Imagine moving somewhere new after you lose someone you loved the most. Making friends isn't the problem, but sharing the secret that someone really sincere to you has passed away is. The main character, a girl named Olivia becomes a very strong and more mature person during the story. In the book "Wish" by Alexandra Bullen, Olivia discovers many things that helps her see who she really is. She changes a lot throughout the book and she overcomes hard times she never thought she would overcome. She has a lot to deal with, for example, grieving her sister's death.
Accepting someone's gone is very hard. That's why people try everything to bring that person back. Olivia gets three wishes and she obviously would want to wish for the most important thing back, which is her sister. Her sister Violet came back as a ghost to teach her a lesson, which is to be careful what you wish for. Although something can seem very right for you, like it did for Olivia, it can still turn out bad. Instead of just moving on and trying to heal from someone’s death, Olivia wished for someone she lost to come back which causes trouble for many people.
Sometimes you may seem ungrateful for the things you wanted back the most. When Violet came back as a ghost, Olivia had no privacy and all her decisions and thoughts were influenced by Violet. Now that only Olivia could see her sister, she’s been changing a lot. All though having someone you loved back from the dead may seem joyful and a little bit weird for some people, at most times you would wish to have more privacy all though you missed that person very much.
Not only having someone back you missed is a huge responsibility and a thing that takes up most of your time and thoughts, being new to a school and becoming best friends with your crush’s girlfriend can be tough to get through. Olivia doesn’t want to hurt her new best friend Calla’s feelings because she likes her boyfriend, Soren. This could ruin her reputation especially since she’s new and trying to prove herself in this school. Making decisions like this, especially with the help of your ghost sister can be confusing.
I hope many people who are in Olivia’s situation with friend issues or grieving a person’s death read “Wish”. This book is very useful and can show you the solution to your problems. Even if the book “wish” is full of magic and power, it is meant to show you not everything that happens to you is magic, it’s because of your hard work. That’s why many people should read the book “wish”.
